Description

Pol Roger, then 18 years old, made his first sale of wine in January 1849 after the death of his father. He launched into the champagne business in Aÿ, where the family lived. Two years later, the family moved to Épernay where the business developed. Pol Roger died in 1899 and his two sons then took over. Maurice is in charge of the commercial dimension, while Georges works on wine making. Unfortunately, the following year, the cellars and buildings collapsed.
Very early on, the house began to export to England. She also became the favorite of Winston Churchill. Indeed, following his meeting with Odette Pol-Roger in 1944 during a dinner organized at the British Embassy in Paris, very strong ties were forged between the Churchill families and the Pol-Roger House.
